NAfME National Conference
I attended the National Conference Oct. 26-29.
NAfME Membership
This is a great resource for learning new ideas and strategies from other music colleagues!
Professional Reading
As part of my membership with NAfME (National Association for Music Education) I have recently received several new professional magazines with various articles. I was especially intrigued by an article on arts integration and the importance of it in schools. There are several more articles I'm very interested to find time to read.
Music K-8 Subscription
This is a music teacher's magazine subscription that includes lots of amazing songs and lesson ideas! I've also found the list serve to be very informative and encouraging so that I don't feel so much like an island in my profession.
Social Media:
I have connected with many teachers across social media. I follow many music teachers and organizations on fb and twitter. I have 'lurked' on several #mused twitter chats.
2012-2014:
NAfME (National Association for Music Education) Eastern-Division Conference
April 5-6
Attended a variety of sessions at the conference in Hartford, CT. It was a great opportunity to meet like-minded music educators and grow professionally. Many ideas to be incorporated into my teaching practice!
Summer Music Conference
In July 2012 I attended a conference in Tennessee by leading music educators. This was a great opportunity to grow professionally and learn new lesson ideas and strategies.

NAfME Membership
Last year I decided to join my professional organization for music. The cost has deterred me in the past, but I was feeling a need to interact with other music teachers through forums and attend the Maryland State Conference. It's been great reading articles and forums and I look forward to diving into this to see what else it has to offer this summer.
