In music we are learning about ......

Kindergarten: ...sounds all around us and our four types of voices: singing, speaking, whispering, and yelling. Ask your child to share our "Hello Song" to demonstrate how to properly use their singing voice. We also are learning how to move to a steady beat.
First Grade: ...how to properly use our singing, whispering, and speaking voices. Ask your child to sing "Peanut Butter!" We will also be reviewing fast and slow.
Second Grade: ...high/middle/low sounds as well as adding interest to songs through instrumental parts, rounds, ostinatos. Ask your child about "Engine, Engine Number Nine."
Third Grade: ... melodic contour (the shape of a melody) so we know whether to sing higher or lower.
Fourth Grade: ....melodic contour as well as adding instrumental parts to add interest to a song. Ask your child about "Funga Alafia."
Fifth Grade: ...scales
and melodies. Ask your child about "Whacky Do Re Mi."
