Classroom Procedures and Policies
Students have music class once a week for 50 minutes. In each music class students experience music through singing, playing, moving, listening, analyzing, discussing, and interpreting.
Grading Policy
*Students are expected to participate in all aspects of every music class.
*Students receive a plus or minus for their participation and behavior during each class.
*Assignments and performances are scored according to rubrics.
*Letter grades are given at the end of the second and fourth marking periods based upon participation, musical knowledge and ability, progress, and behavior.
Behavior Expectations

The school-wide PBIS behavior program applies in the music classroom as well. Students with good behavior earn bird bucks. Consequences for poor behavior include: owing recess, bird buck fines, calls home, or office referrals.
Concerts
Although not all students participate in a concert performance every year, they do have several performance opportunities during their time at Fountaindale Elementary. Fourth grade students generally perform a concert in November and second grade students perform in April. Fifth grade and kindergarten students perform at the end of the school year. Students work very hard to learn and practice their music during the school day and they relish their moment in the spotlight.
Fountaindale Pizazz!

Fountaindale Pizazz is a group of about thirty fourth and fifth grade students who excel at singing and dancing. These students are selected after an audition and they practice during their recess time. These students work hard and also have lots of fun. Pizazz performs for specials events and concerts several times throughout the school year.
